Here is the place/area where I was born and raised. The place is called Borg, a litle comunity situated nearby the church, Vestvaagoy Lofoten islands. ( You can see it to the left in the photo ) I love to go around in these beautiful surroundings with my camera and make portraits of the amazing nature you will find up here far north. The weather shifts constantly during all seasons, and so is the light, soft, intense and with different kind of hue. Many artists, painters, novelists, writers, photographers, etc has come to this islands and found spirit and motivation for their works of art. I do hope that one day some of my deviaton friends could visit these beautiful islands and see for themselves.
I was here last year for a few days during the summer when I took 10 weeks to travel through Finland, Norway & Denmark (the vast majority of time I spend in the homeland - Norway and did not want to leave - ever!)
This looks very much like the view from the 84m Cheiftans Longhouse that sits atop a hill - Lofotr Viking Museum. Is it? And is that the Church - middle left?
You live in one of the most beautiful, wild places in all the world - I am so envious!

I am glad You have been here. Yes, the long dark bulding in front of the Church is Lofotr, wiking museum. When I was a kid, I used to run and play games upon the hill where Lofotr big house now is rebuilt, never knowing it was a prehistoric story hidden below my feet. My grand uncle owned the land, but he had to sell when they found out what was hidden there.
So I guess your grand uncle must be Frikk Harald Bjerkli and he discovered the find in September 1981 when ploughing the field. Probably the greatest find, as far a longhouses go, in Viking history. Perhaps your ancestors?
Sad he had to sell it though.

I'd love to visit this place. But then there are a lot of places I'd like to see.
This one has such a great mood about it. It's a little bit melancholy I think, with the gray skies and brown landscape. I think the tallest mountain should either be in the middle or to the left or right in the picture, rather than off-center. The entire photo could also benefit from being rotated just a bit to the right, because it feels tilted. There are some small buildings in the shot that would make good subjects too , especially the one on the left by the lake.

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
